Third Letter of Yâhuwchânâ´n
יָהוּחָנָן ג
Yâhuwchânâ´n rejoices about Cáius keeping the Truth pure from paganism
1. ¶ The elder to Cáius the beloved, whom I affectionately love within the Truth.
2. Beloved, I pray for you to prosper and to be in health about all things, just as your self prospers.
3. For brothers made me very happy, coming and testifying of you being with the Truth, just as you walk about in the Truth.
4. I do not have a greater happiness than these things, that I should hear of my sons walking about in the Truth.
5. Beloved, you reliably perform whatever might be wrought for the brothers and towards strangers,
6. Who testified of your affectionate love in the sight of the convocation, whom you will do well if escorting them forward worthily of Yâ-hwéh (יָהְוֶה He causes to be/exist);
7. For they went forth on behalf of His name, accepting nothing [doctrinally] from the heathen masses!
8. We therefore owe to take after those of that kind, that we may be fellow-workers to the Truth.
The evil example
9. ¶ I wrote it to the convocation, nevertheless, Dio-trephés (Diós[E1] -nourished), who loves to be foremost among them, does not accept us.
10. Due to this, when I come, I gently remind you of his works which he performs, with evil blithering words against us, yet not being satisfied with these, he himself neither receives the brothers; and he forbids those who would, and throws them out from the convocation!
11. Beloved, do not imitate the evil example, instead, the good example. The one doing goodness, is from Yâ-hwéh; but the one doing evil has not discerned the Mighty One.
The good example
12. ¶ Testimony is borne by all as to Demétrios, even by the Truth Himself, so we also testify it, and ye recognize that our testimony is true.
13. I had many things to write, instead I wish not to write to you by means of ink and pen;
14. But I hope to see you soon and speak mouth towards mouth.
15. Peace to you. The friends bid you peace. Bid peace to the friends by means of His name.
