Chapter 1
From:
- To:
- ¶ Páulus, a delegate of
Yâhuwshúa` the Anointed, due to Yâ-hwéh’s will, according to the
promise of life which is within the Deliverer Yâhuwshúa`;
- To Timótheos, a beloved son, be
favor, mercy, and peace from Yâ-hwéh: the Father and from
the Anointed Yâhuwshúa` our Sovereign.
Rekindle without cowardice
- ¶ I thank the Mighty One of my
forefathers, Whom I serve with a cleansed conscience, when I unceasingly
have remembrance of you in my supplications night and day,
- Longing to see you, remembering
your tears in order that I may be filled with joy,
- Having received a memory of the
unfaked certainty within you, which indwelled first within your
grandmother Loís and your mother Euníke, and I am persuaded that also
within you.
- Due to which reason, I remind
you to rekindle the gift of the Mighty One, which is within you through
the imposition of my hand,
- for Yâ-hwéh did not give us a
spirit of cowardice, rather a Spirit of Force and of affectionate love and of moderation.
The glad tidings
- Therefore, you should
not be ashamed of the testimony of our Sovereign [Yshá`Yâhuw
52: 7], nor me His bound captive; instead, suffer hardship
together with the glad tidings:
By the Force of Yâ-hwéh
- Who has delivered us [meaning
of Yâhuwshúa`], and of Who has called us into the calling of
the pure, not according to our works – rather according to His own purpose
and favor, which is granted to us within the Anointed
Yâhuwshúa` since before the ages of time,
ï
The manifestation of the glad tidings:
The Sign of the Son of Âthâ´m
- Yet which is now to
be rendered apparent through the sign
above (epiphany) of our Deliverer Yâhuwshúa` the
Anointed, of having verily rendered death entirely idle [Disclosure
7: 2-3], and of having rendered evident Life with incorruptibility
through the glad tidings,
- For which I was appointed a
herald and delegate and instructor of the heathen masses,
- Due to which cause I also
suffer these things; nevertheless, I am not ashamed: for I know Whom I
have believed in, and I am persuaded that He is able to keep my deposit
unto that Day.
- ¶ Maintain a pattern of sound
words which you did hear from me by means of the persuasion and
affectionate love which are within the Anointed Yâhuwshúa`.
- Keep the virtue deposited
through the Spirit of the Pure One having inhabited within us.
- ¶ You discern this: that all
those within ’Asía are turned away from me, among whom are Phúgellos and
Hermogénes.
- May Yâ-hwéh grant mercy to the
house of ’Onesíphoros, because he refreshed me often, and he was not
ashamed of my manacles.
- Instead, when he was in Róma,
he hurried more diligently to
seek me out, and found me!
- May our Sovereign grant
to him to find mercy from Yâ-hwéh in that Day, and you do especially know
how much he attended me at ’Éphesos.
Chapter 2
Advice to the Elder Timótheos
- ¶ You, therefore, my son, be
fortified by the favor which is within the Anointed Yâhuwshúa`!
- And the things that you did hear from me through many witnesses,
deposit these with trustworthy men, those such as shall be competent to
also teach others.
- Therefore you do suffer
hardship as a virtuous soldier of Yâhuwshúa` the
Anointed.
- No one serving as a soldier
entangles himself with the deals of life, in order that he may please the one
who enrolled him as a soldier!
- And also if anyone might
compete, he is not crowned unless he might have competed by the rules!
- The farmer must labor before partaking of the fruits.
- Consider the things I say, that
Yâ-hwéh might give you understanding about all therein.
Endure in the Word
- ¶ Remember Yâhuwshúa` is the Anointed
One from the seed of Dâwíth, Who
was raised from among the dead, according to my glad tidings
- Within which I suffer hardship
to the point of shackles as if an
evildoer; nevertheless the Word
of Yâ-hwéh [Yâhuwshúa`]
is not held captive.
- For the sake of this [Word]
I endure all things, for the sake of the chosen ones,
in order that those may also secure the rescue that is within the
Deliverer Yâhuwshúa`, along with
endless honor!
- The Word [Yâhuwshúa` =
Yâ-hwéh is deliverance/wealth] is trustworthy: for if we died together
with Him, together with Him we shall also be made to live.
- If we endure, we shall also reign together with Him;
if we deny Him [the Word],
He also will deny us.
- If we do not believe in Him
[the Word], that One stays trustworthy; He is not able to deny Himself [Yâhuwshúa` = Yâ-hwéh is deliverance/wealth].
- Remind them of these
things, earnestly testifying in Yâ-hwéh’s sight to not dispute with
worthless words, toward the overturning of the ones who heed
them.
- Study diligently to present
yourself approved to Yâ-hwéh, an unashamed workman, who is correctly
proclaiming the Word of Truth* [Yâhuwshúa`]
Their false word will spread like gangrene, stand aloof
and purge these vessels out
- And stand aloof from heathenish
meaningless words, which are useless, for those will advance onto
more irreverence of those who are occupied with them, [see Yâhuwshúa`
is not Jesus]*
- And their word will spread as if a gangrene and
will overtake many; of whom is Humenáios and Philetós,
- Those who missed the mark about
the Truth, and are alleging the resurrection to have
taken place already, and are overthrowing the persuasion of some!
- Nevertheless the Foundation of
Yâ-hwéh stands firm, having this signature stamp seal: Yâ-hwéh
acknowledges the ones who are His [see Numbers 16: 5], so let everyone who professes the name of
the Sovereign depart from unrighteousness! [Proverbs 3: 7, 14: 16]
- Though in a great house there
aren’t only golden and silver vessels, rather also wooden and earthen; and
the former are for esteem, but these latter ones are for infamy.
- Therefore, whenever someone
shall have purged His self from these latter ones, he shall have
become a vessel for esteem, having been purified and become
serviceable to the Sovereign, having been prepared for every good work.
- So flee youthful lusts and pursue rectification, persuasion, affectionate
love, and peace with the ones calling upon Yâ-hwéh out of a pure
heart.
How to deal with the sleeping captive sheep
- Yet decline questionings of the
heedless and rude, understanding that they beget battles.
- And it is necessary for a
bondman of Yâ-hwéh not to do
battle, instead, to be affable
towards all, apt to teach, enduring of wrong,
- In gentle humility educating
the ones who set themselves in opposition, if perhaps Yâ-hwéh may grant
them repentance unto acknowledgment of the Truth,
- They may yet wake their
selves up out of the noose of the Adversary, having been captured
alive by him by that one’s wishes.
Chapter 3
The nature and destiny of adherents of the false word
- Now recognize this: that within
the final days difficult times will be present,
- For the sons of ’Âthâ´m
will be lovers of their selves, lovers of silver, ostentatious, haughty,
scorners, to the fathers rebelliously unpersuadable, unthankful, impure,
- Uncaring for their fellows,
truce-breakers, accusers, without self-control, savage, without love for
good ones,
- Traitors, reckless, swollen
with pride, lovers of hedonism rather than lovers of [the name of] Yâ-hwéh:
- Maintaining an appearance of
reverence for [the name of] Yâ-hwéh, yet denying the force of it [the
name]: Remove those who are thus from among you!
- For from these are those
infiltrating into the houses and captivating little women laden with sins, induced by various longings,
- Always learning, yet never able
to come unto the acknowledgment of the Truth!
- And in the way Yânnë´ç and
Yâmbrë´yç stood against Moshéh [the
Scroll of Yâshâ´r 79: 27], thus also these ones stand against the Truth: men
completely corrupted in mindset, unapproved concerning the persuasion.
- Nevertheless, they shall not
advance farther, for their stupidity shall be entirely clear to all, as
also that stupidity of those ones did become.
The Truth delivers amidst persecution
- But you have closely followed my instruction,
conduct, purpose, persuasion, longsuffering, affectionate love,
steadfastness,
- With the persecutions, and
with the sufferings, such as happened to me in Antióxeia, in ’Ikónion, in
Lústra: you know what manner of persecutions I endured – yet
Yâ-hwéh has rescued me out of all!
- And indeed, all those who wish
to live reverently within the Anointed Yâhuwshúa` will be persecuted!
- Yet harmful sons of ’Âthâ´m
and muttering impostors [mediums and spiritists (Yshá`Yâhuw
8: 19-20, The
Glad Tidings of Tâ’ówm 30)]
shall advance onto more evil,
misleading and being misled.
The purposes of pure scriptures
- But you, stay within the things you did learn and
were assured of, having discerned from Whom you did learn them,
- even because you have
understood the pure scriptures from infancy, which are able to make you
wise for deliverance through the persuasion in the Anointed
Yâhuwshúa`.
- Every scripture inspired by
Yâ-hwéh is also profitable
for instruction, for proof, for rectification, to educate the one in
justification,
- In order that the son of ’Âthâ´m
may be refreshed of ’Elohíym (the Mighty Ones) to fully
finish every good work.
Chapter 4
Resolution:
- ¶ Therefore, I earnestly testify in the sight of the Mighty
One and of the Sovereign Yâhuwshúa` the Anointed, Who is about to decide the living
and the dead at His sign above
ï and at His coming Kingdom:
- Proclaim the Word [Yâhuwshúa`], and stand firm opportunely or inopportunely to prove, admonish, and
implore within all patience and
instruction!
- For there shall be a season [now]
when they will not put up with uncorrupt teaching; instead, having an
itching ear, they will pile over themselves instructors according to
their own selves’ private cravings,
- And they will turn the ear away
from the Truth, and will be deflected onto the myths.
- But you, keep sober in all
things, endure hardships, perform the work of an announcer of the
glad tidings, fully carry out your service of attending.
- For I am already being spent,
and the season of my release is come.
- I have combated the virtuous
combat, I have finished my race, and I have guarded my
persuasion.
- So henceforth the Crown
of Justification is laid up for me, which Yâ-hwéh, the righteous Judge,
will render to me on that Day; and not only to me, rather also to all the
ones who affectionately love the appearance of His sign above. ï
Personal instructions
- Hurry diligently to come to me
quickly,
- For Demás deserted me, having
affectionately loved the present age, and is gone unto Thessaloníke,
Kréskens unto Galatía, and Títus unto Dalmatía.
- Luwqá’ alone is with me. Having taken Márquwç, bring him
with you, for he is of good use to me for service of attending.
- But I sent Tuxikós unto
’Éphesos.
- When coming, bring the scroll
container that I left behind in Troás (plain of Troy)
with Kárpos, and the scriptures – especially the sheepskin scrolls.
- ’Aléxandros, the smith,
demonstrated many depravities against me; let Yâ-hwéh render to him
according to his works.
- Whom you also should be
on guard to avoid, for he has exceedingly opposed our Words.
- ¶ During my first defense, no
one stood together with me, instead everyone deserted me; do not reckon it
to them.
- Yet Yâ-hwéh did stand by me, and fortified me in order
that through me the proclamation might be fully carried out and all the heathen masses should hear it! So I was rescued out
of the mouth of the lion,
- And my Sovereign will
also rescue me from every harmful work, and will deliver me for the
Kingdom of Yâ-hwéh, for Whom is honor for the ages of the ages!
’Âmë´n
(certainly).
- ¶ Bid peace to Príska and
’Aqúila and the house of ’Onesíphoros.
- ’Érastos remained in Qorínth,
but Tróphimos I left behind in Míletos sick.
- Hurry diligently to come before
winter! Eúboulos and Púdens and Línos and Klaudía and all those brethren
bid you peace.
- Our Sovereign Yâhuwshúa`
the Anointed is with your spirit. Favor is
with you, âmë´n.
Second
letter to Timótheos, chosen first elder of the convocation of ’Éphesos,
written from Róma when Páulus was placed a second time before the Kæ´sar Néron
