Chapter 1
From:
- Páulus, bondman of Yâ-hwéh and
delegate of Yâhuwshúa`:
The
Anointed, according to the persuasion of the chosen ones
of Yâ-hwéh and the acknowledgement of the Truth,
(which is according to proper reverence of Yâ-hwéh)
- Concerning a hope of endless
life, which the Mighty One – Who cannot lie – did promise before the ages
of time,
- And Who did manifest His
Word in His own seasons in a proclamation, which was entrusted upon me by
commandment of Yâ-hwéh our Deliverer [Yâhuwshúa` means the glad
tidings, “Yâ-hwéh is deliverance/wealth!”].
To: Títus
- To Títus, a legitimate son
according to our shared persuasion: favor and peace from Yâ-hwéh: the
Father and our Sovereign Yâhuwshúa` the Anointed, our
Deliverer.
Re:
Elder appointments
- I left you in Kréte for this
reason: in order that you might further straighten the deficient things,
and that you might appoint elders in each city as I ordered you:
- Only if one is
unaccused, a man of one woman, who possesses believing children who are
not charged with depravity or insubordination.
- For the elder needs to be
unaccused as a house manager: not self-pleasing, not bad-tempered, not
given to wine, not violent, not greedy for foul gain,
- Instead, the elder needs to
be hospitable to strangers, a lover of good, self-controlled,
righteous, upright, self-continent,
Reason
for elders to adhere to His name
- An adherent of the trustworthy Word
according to the instruction, in order that able he may be both to implore
with sound instruction, and to refute those who contradict.
Ya`aqóv’s“Jewish
fables” (KJV), e.g. kosher doctrine
- For there are many, who are insubordinate,
and talkers of empty words [false names], and they are deceivers
of the minds of the sons of ’Âthâ´m,
especially those of the [fleshly] Circumcision,
- The mouths of whose it
is necessary to cover: those who overturn whole houses, instructing wrong
things they should not, for the sake of shameful profits.
- A predicator of their own – one
from themselves – said:
“Kretans
are always liars, evil wild beasts, lazy gluttons!”
- The testimony of this is true,
for which cause refute them sharply, in order that they may become sound
within the persuasion,
- And that they not pay
attention to “Yehuwthíy”-like
myths
and the commandments of humans who utterly detest
the Truth.*
- Everything indeed is
clean to those cleansed;
but to those who are defiled and those disbelieving, nothing
is clean! Instead, both their mind and conscience
are defiled!
- They profess to acknowledge
Yâ-hwéh, but by their deeds deny Him, being detestable and rebelliously
unpersuadable, and disapproved for any good work.
Chapter 2
Elders’
sound instructions for convocations
- But you, speak the things that
befit sound instruction:
- -For aged men
to be sober, venerable, self-controlled, soundly healthy in
persuasion, in affectionate love, and in steadfastness.
- -For aged women
in like manner – in demeanor as is proper for devoted ones, not accusers,
not enslaved to much wine, instructors of good,
- In order that they may moderate
the young women to be lovers of their husbands, and lovers
of their children,
- Self-controlled, pure, guardians
of the home, virtuous, subordinate to their own
husbands, in order that the Word of Yâ-hwéh may not be scorned.
- -Exhort those younger men
in like manner to be self-controlled
- concerning all things, holding
your self to a pattern of good works, by instructing with
incorruptibleness, venerableness, and
- Unblameable sound speech, in
order that he who is opposed may be ashamed, having nothing amiss to say
about you.
- -For Bondmen to
be subject to their own owners, to be well-pleasing in everything, and
not be contradicting,
- And not be
embezzling, instead, demonstrating good fidelity in all therein, in order
that they may showcase the instruction that is of Yâ-hwéh your
Deliverer in all things.
Why
do these things?
- For the favor of Yâ-hwéh which
brings deliverance for all humans did appear above, [Star of
Bë´yth-Léchem, MattithYâ´huw
2: 2]
- Training us, in order that
having denied the irreverence and the worldly desires, we should live
moderately and righteously and reverently within the present age,
- Awaiting the happy hope, and sign above of the Majesty
of the great Mighty Ones and our Deliverer Yâhuwshúa` the Anointed,
[Sign of the Son of ’Âthâ´m, MattithYâ´huw
24: 30] ï
- Who gave His Self for us in
order that He might ransom us from all lawlessness, and might cleanse for
Himself a people to treasure, zealous of good works.
- Speak these things and implore,
and rebuke with all authoritativeness. Let no one second-guess you.
Chapter 3
General
instructions to convocations
- Quietly remind them to be
subordinate to rulers and to authorities, to be persuaded by their ruler
to be ready as to every good work,
- To speak slander of no one, to
be unwarlike, appropriate, and demonstrating every gentleness
towards all sons
of ’Âthâ´m.
- For also we once were also
unminding, rebelliously unpersuadable, led astray, being in bondage to
various lusts and pleasures walking in malice and envy, and being
hateful, even detesting one another.
The
Day of Yâ-hwéh (after the 6th seal)
- ¶
But when the kindness and the love for humanity of our
Deliverer, Yâ-hwéh, has shone above (epiphany), ï
- (Not out of works which are
by some justification which we performed, instead,
according to His own mercy) He will have delivered
us through the bathing of the regeneration and the refreshing
of the Spirit of the Pure One,
- Which He poured out upon us
copiously by the hand of Yâhuwshúa` the Anointed, our Deliverer,
- In order that, having been rectified
by His favor, we should become heirs in the hope of endless life!
- And the Word is
trustworthy, so I desire you to thoroughly establish them
concerning these things, in order that those who have believed on Yâ-hwéh
may actively think to outstand in good works. These things are good and profitable
for the sons of
’Âthâ´m;
How
to deal with quarreling and “heretics”
- But do not get involved in* dumb questions and genealogies and
quarrels and battles of the scribes of the Law (Towrâ´h), for they
are useless and profitless.
- Decline a schismatic man after
having instructed him once and twice,
- Understanding that such a one
is turned away, so he errs, being condemned by his self.
Personal
instructions
- ¶ When I shall send Artemás
towards you, or Tuxikós, hurry diligently to come towards me into Nikópolis,
for I have decided to winter over there.
- Outfit and conduct Zenás, the
scribe in the Law, and Apollós forward diligently, in order that not even
one thing may be lacking to them.
- And let those ours also
learn to be outstanding in good works for the necessary needs, in order
that they may not be unfruitful.
- All those with me bid you
peace. Bid peace to those in the persuasion who brotherly love
us. The favor is with all you, ’âmë´n
(certainly).
To Títus, chosen
first elder of the Cretans’ convocation,
Written from
Nikópolis of Makedonía.
